Description

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1/2 cup Butter
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1/2 cup Chopped Nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare an 8×8-inch baking pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
  3. Mix the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  4. Melt the butter and vegetable oil together in a saucepan over low heat.
  5. Combine the water and granulated sugar with the melted butter and oil until fully dissolved.
  6. Beat the eggs in a separate bowl, then stir into the sugar mixture along with the vanilla extract.
  7. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  8. Fold in the chocolate chips and the optional chopped nuts.
  9. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
  11. Cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For an extra treat, serve warm with ice cream on top or sprinkle with powdered sugar.
