- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the rigatoni in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente, then drain.
- Prepare the meat sauce by browning the ground beef or sausage in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is translucent.
- Mix in the marinara sauce, seasoning with salt and pepper, and let it simmer.
- Combine the cooked rigatoni with the meat sauce in a large bowl to fully coat the pasta.
- Layer half of the rigatoni mixture in a greased baking dish, top with half of the mozzarella, and repeat with the remaining ingredients.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
