Instructions

  2. Whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Cut the cold butter into small cubes and mix into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Fold in the diced strawberries gently to keep their shape.
  5. Mix the buttermilk, egg, and vanilla extract in another bowl, then stir into the dry ingredients.
  6. Knead the dough a few times on a floured surface, then pat into a circle about 1-inch thick.
