Description
A classic Southern-style shrimp boil loaded with tender shrimp, corn on the cob, baby potatoes, and smoky sausage all boiled in a flavorful spiced broth and served family-style for the ultimate crowd-pleaser.
Ingredients
1 lb large shrimp, shell-on (deveined)
1 lb baby red potatoes
3 ears corn, cut into halves or thirds
12 oz smoked sausage, sliced into chunks
1 lemon, halved
1/4 cup Old Bay seasoning (or seafood boil seasoning)
4 garlic cloves, smashed
2 bay leaves
1 tbsp salt
4 tbsp butter, melted
Chopped parsley and lemon wedges for serving
Instructions
1. Fill a large stockpot with about 4 quarts of water and bring to a boil.
2. Add Old Bay seasoning, garlic, bay leaves, salt, and lemon halves; simmer for 5 minutes to infuse flavor.
3. Add potatoes and cook for 10–12 minutes until just tender.
4. Add sausage and corn; cook for another 5 minutes.
5. Finally, add shrimp and cook for 2–3 minutes until pink and cooked through.
6. Drain the boil, discarding bay leaves and lemon halves.
7. Transfer everything to a large serving platter or spread on a newspaper-lined table.
8. Drizzle melted butter over the top and sprinkle with parsley.
9. Serve immediately with lemon wedges and extra Old Bay if desired.
Notes
Add crab legs or mussels for an extra seafood twist.
For a spicy kick, include a few dashes of hot sauce or Cajun seasoning in the boil.
Best served fresh, but leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days and reheated gently.
