Flaky, buttery heart-shaped danishes filled with sweet-tart raspberry jam and creamy cheese a charming bakery-style pastry perfect for breakfast, brunch, or special occasions.
Ingredients
2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
1/2 cup raspberry jam or preserves
4 oz cream cheese, softened
2 tbsp granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Roll out puff pastry sheets and cut into squares.
3. Fold opposite corners inward to form heart shapes.
4. In a small bowl, mix cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
5. Spoon cream cheese mixture into the center of each pastry.
6. Top with a spoonful of raspberry jam.
7. Brush exposed pastry with egg wash.
8. Bake for 15–18 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
9. Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
Keep puff pastry cold for the flakiest texture.
Other jams like strawberry or apricot work well.
Best enjoyed the same day, but can be reheated briefly in the oven.
