Description
These creamy mashed sweet potatoes are smooth, buttery, and slightly sweet a perfect side dish for holidays or weeknight dinners. Made with a touch of cream and warm spices for cozy comfort in every bite.
Ingredients
2 1/2 lbs sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
4 tbsp unsalted butter
1/4 cup heavy cream (or milk)
2 tbsp maple syrup
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
Salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
Chopped pecans or parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
1. Place peeled and cubed sweet potatoes in a large pot and cover with water.
2. Bring to a boil and cook for 15–20 minutes, or until very tender.
3. Drain and return potatoes to the pot.
4. Add butter, cream, and maple syrup.
5. Mash until smooth and creamy using a masher or hand mixer.
6. Stir in cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
7. Adjust seasoning to taste.
8. Transfer to a serving bowl and garnish with pecans or parsley if desired.
9. Serve warm.
Notes
For extra creaminess, use half-and-half instead of milk.
Add a pinch of cayenne for a subtle spicy kick.
These mashed sweet potatoes can be made ahead and reheated before serving.
