A classic Italian Love Cake featuring layers of rich chocolate cake, creamy ricotta filling, and a smooth chocolate pudding topping an indulgent dessert that gets better with every bite.
Ingredients
1 box chocolate cake mix
Ingredients listed on cake mix box
15 oz ricotta cheese
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 box instant chocolate pudding mix
1 1/2 cups cold milk
1 cup whipped topping
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2. Prepare chocolate cake batter according to package directions.
3. Pour batter evenly into prepared baking dish.
4. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
5. Carefully spoon ricotta mixture over cake batter.
6. Bake for 50–55 minutes until set.
7. Allow cake to cool completely.
8. Whisk pudding mix with cold milk until thickened.
9. Fold in whipped topping until smooth.
10. Spread pudding mixture over cooled cake.
11. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before slicing and serving.
Notes
The ricotta layer will sink during baking — this is normal.
Chill overnight for best flavor and texture.
Dust with cocoa powder or chocolate shavings before serving if desired.
