- 1 large fresh burrata ball
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup fine breadcrumbs
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- Oil for frying
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp chili flakes
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 cup crushed tomatoes
- Salt to taste
- Fresh basil (optional)
Instructions
- Pat the burrata dry gently using a paper towel.
- Place the burrata in the freezer for about 20 to 30 minutes.
- In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Add minced garlic to the hot oil and sauté it until fragrant.
- Stir in chili flakes and tomato paste, cooking for another minute.
- Pour in crushed tomatoes and stir; allow to simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Taste and season the sauce with salt as needed; keep warm.
- Dredge the chilled burrata in flour, then dip in beaten eggs, and coat with breadcrumbs.
- Heat frying oil to about 175°C (350°F) and fry the breaded burrata for about 1 to 2 minutes until golden brown.
- Drain the burrata on a paper towel.
- Spoon warm arrabbiata sauce onto a plate.
- Place the fried burrata in the center of the sauce and slice it open immediately.
Notes
Serve warm with fresh basil for garnish. Pair with crusty bread or a side salad. Store leftover burrata in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
