Description

A delicious dish featuring creamy burrata cheese paired with a rich and spicy arrabbiata sauce, perfect for gatherings and special occasions.


Ingredients

  • 1 large fresh burrata ball
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup fine breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Oil for frying
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp chili flakes
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 cup crushed tomatoes
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh basil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat the burrata dry gently using a paper towel.
  2. Place the burrata in the freezer for about 20 to 30 minutes.
  3. In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  4. Add minced garlic to the hot oil and sauté it until fragrant.
  5. Stir in chili flakes and tomato paste, cooking for another minute.
  6. Pour in crushed tomatoes and stir; allow to simmer for about 10 minutes.
  7. Taste and season the sauce with salt as needed; keep warm.
  8. Dredge the chilled burrata in flour, then dip in beaten eggs, and coat with breadcrumbs.
  9. Heat frying oil to about 175°C (350°F) and fry the breaded burrata for about 1 to 2 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Drain the burrata on a paper towel.
  11. Spoon warm arrabbiata sauce onto a plate.
  12. Place the fried burrata in the center of the sauce and slice it open immediately.

Notes

Serve warm with fresh basil for garnish. Pair with crusty bread or a side salad. Store leftover burrata in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
