Ingredients
4 tbsp all-purpose flour
2 tbsp brown sugar
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
A pinch of ground cloves (optional)
A pinch of salt
2 tbsp milk
1 tbsp molasses
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
1. In a microwave-safe mug, whisk together flour, brown sugar, baking powder, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
2. Add milk, molasses, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract.
3. Stir until the batter is smooth and well combined, scraping the bottom of the mug.
4. Microwave on high for 1 minute 10 seconds to 1 minute 30 seconds, until the cake has risen and is set in the center.
5. Let cool slightly before enjoying warm.
6. Optional: top with whipped cream or a dusting of powdered sugar.
