Description

A hearty Cuban-inspired grinder sandwich layered with roasted pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, and a creamy tangy slaw  all packed into toasted Cuban bread for a flavorful and satisfying bite.

Ingredients

Scale

1 loaf Cuban bread or large sub rolls

4 slices roasted pork

4 slices deli ham

4 slices Swiss cheese

4 dill pickle slices

2 tbsp yellow mustard

2 tbsp butter

For the grinder slaw:

1/2 cup mayonnaise

1 tbsp red wine vinegar

1 tsp Dijon mustard

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/4 tsp salt

1/2 tsp oregano

1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce

1/4 cup thinly sliced red onion

1/4 cup sliced banana peppers

Instructions

1. In a medium bowl, mix mayonnaise, vinegar, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, pepper, salt, and oregano to make the slaw dressing.

2. Add lettuce, red onion, and banana peppers to the dressing and toss until coated. Set aside.

3. Slice the Cuban bread in half lengthwise and spread yellow mustard on both sides.

4. Layer Swiss cheese, roasted pork, ham, and pickles evenly on the bottom half of the bread.

5. Spread the grinder slaw over the top half of the bread.

6. Close the sandwich and lightly butter the outside of the bread.

7. Heat a skillet or panini press over medium heat and grill the sandwich until golden brown and cheese is melted, about 3–5 minutes per side.

8. Slice and serve warm.

Notes

Add salami for an extra meaty twist similar to a traditional Cuban sandwich.

If you don’t have Cuban bread, use French bread or hoagie rolls instead.

Serve with plantain chips or fries for a full meal experience.
