Description
A simple and delicious dish that combines creamy tomato sauce with pasta, perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces uncooked pasta
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 (14-ounce) can tomato sauce
- ¾ cup heavy/whipping cream
- ¼ teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Freshly grated Parmesan cheese, for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Boil the Pasta: Start by bringing a large pot of salted water to a boil. Once boiling, add the uncooked pasta. Cook the pasta according to the package instructions, typically about 8-10 minutes, until it is al dente. Remember to reserve about ½ cup of the pasta water before draining.
- Sauté the Garlic: While the pasta cooks, take out a large skillet and add the butter. Let it melt, then add the minced garlic. Stir constantly for about a minute until fragrant.
- Make the Sauce: Add the tomato paste to the skillet and cook for about 30 seconds. Then pour in the tomato sauce, heavy cream, and Italian seasoning. Stir well and simmer gently for about 5 minutes.
- Season the Sauce: After simmering, taste the sauce and adjust with salt and pepper as needed. Add a pinch of sugar if too acidic.
- Combine with Pasta: Once the pasta is cooked and drained, add it directly to the skillet. Toss well to coat in the sauce, adding reserved pasta water if needed.
- Serve and Enjoy: Plate immediately and garnish with freshly grated Parmesan if desired. Serve warm with side dishes.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider adding fresh herbs or vegetables. Can be made vegan by substituting with plant-based cream.
