Description
A decadent breakfast bake made with buttery croissants, juicy blueberries, and a rich custard mixture baked to golden perfection and finished with a drizzle of maple syrup or dusting of powdered sugar.
Ingredients
6 croissants, preferably day-old
1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
4 large eggs
1 1/2 cups milk
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
2 tbsp butter, melted
Powdered sugar and maple syrup for serving
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2. Slice the croissants in half and layer them in the baking dish, scattering blueberries between the layers.
3. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
4. Pour the custard mixture evenly over the croissants, pressing gently so the bread absorbs the liquid.
5. Let it sit for 10–15 minutes to soak.
6. Drizzle melted butter over the top.
7. Bake for 35–40 minutes, until golden brown and set in the center.
8. Let cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar and serving with maple syrup.
Notes
For a make-ahead version, assemble the dish the night before and refrigerate overnight.
Try adding lemon zest for a fresh twist or cream cheese for extra richness.
Leftovers can be reheated in the oven or microwave for a quick breakfast treat.
