Description

Light and fluffy Belgian waffles with a crispy outer layer, perfect for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs, separated
  • 1 3/4 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Mix the wet ingredients: whisk egg yolks with milk, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, mixing gently until just combined.
  5. Beat the egg whites until soft peaks form for added fluffiness.
  6. Fold the beaten egg whites into the batter carefully.
  7. Cook the waffles in the preheated iron until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes.
  8. Serve warm with your favorite toppings.

Notes

For an extra crispy texture, cook the waffles a minute longer once they’re golden brown.
